Bemboka Run March 2011

March 2011 Run to Bemboka
(or was it Nimmitabel?)

As for the trip to Nimmitabel - we had a great day and the weather was fantastic. We had a good turn out which included an international visitor from Canada who came along with Bob Coady.

Originally, the run started out for Bemboka and made it to our first stop at the park at Cooma without any problems. At Cooma we were met by Col and Julie McLeish who came out to catch up with some old friends.

While some of us sipped coffee and all of us talked, we agreed to go to Nimmitabel rather than all the way to Bemboka. The trip to Nimmitabel was easy and uneventful and we made it in good time for an excellent lunch at the fabulous bakery.

We had some admiring onlookers, not the least of which was the resident elephant. Some of us made the most of the seats while others took off for a walk around town, visiting the historic mill and the bowling club where the entire town (except for the ladies at the bakery) appeared to be involved in a very serious competition.

The walkers returned to town with arm-loads of fruit from a local apple tree that was laden, but the apples turned out to be rather dodgy and the locals are probably still smiling.

Some of us stopped again in Cooma for a coffee before heading home. It's always sad to see our friends wave their goodbyes as they go in different directions.

Our South Coast members enjoyed the drive to Bemboka—sorry that we missed you.

Look forward to seeing everyone on the next run.
