History Corvettes of Canberra was first formed in 1980. The club originated after a Corvette Convention in Melbourne where four Canberra couples met and continued the affiliation. The four members were Peter and Nadia Steve, Steve Gough, Tom Carson and Peter Kelly. Social gatherings A monthly social gathering takes place on the first Friday night of every month (except January or when it is a long weekend). Monthly drive A monthly drive is held on the Sunday immediately after the Friday gathering. The drives start from the “Eagle” at Russell. Be there at 9.30 for a 10am departure. A number of overnight drives are held each year. Newsletters Members receive a bi-monthly newsletter. The newsletter keeps you up-to-date on coming events, meetings, cars for sale and other information of interest to members. Corvette Conventions This is a major event all members look forward to. The Conventions are held every Easter rotating States. Conventions attract an average of 100 Corvettes. The weekend includes a judged Show-and-Shine, Driving events and other social gatherings. Corvettes of Canberra hosted a highly successful convention in 2009. The 2011 Convention was in Melbourne and the 2012 Convention will be in Wollongong.
